Well today brought more fog in the morning, more lovely countryside, groves of Eucalyptus trees (an Australian import) and hordes of Spanish-speaking pilgrims. I skipped breakfast because a large French group was monopolizing services of the single person in the breakfast room, and I had to wait until I was 7 km outside the city before I ran into a cafe serving breakfast.
According to my guidebook, Ventas de Naron sports a 13th century hospital built by the Knights Templar, but only the small Ermita de Santa Maria Magdalena remains. Its very tiny and available to visit by reservation (sign on door).

Ventas de Naron's other claim to fame is that it was the probable site of a battle between the Christian knights and the moors in the 9th century, the knights victorious over the Emir of Cordoba.
I am just glad that the weather is still holding. Only a little sprinkle the first day and daytime temperatures in the high sixties and low to mid-seventies.
